A Documentary Journalism Project
Harvard Law School Students, Faculty, Filmmakers, and Journalists
Legal Lens, a collaboration between Harvard Law School students, distinguished faculty, award-winning filmmakers, and journalists, is the brainchild of Martha Minow, the 300th Anniversary University Professor at Harvard University and former Dean of the Law School, and Joseph Tovares, an award-winning documentary producer and media executive.
The project sits at the intersection of the law, documentary, and journalism and has two primary purposes. First, the project gives a voice and a platform to a diverse group of law students and helps them understand how media can be a tool for advancing public debate and discussion about important issues. Second, the short films and associated content will add to the public’s understanding of “the law” and give audiences the opportunity to understand the legal process and better appreciate the role that laws and regulations play in our lives.
Legal Lens is produced in collaboration with The Kindling Group.
The project is supported by the The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation.
